'Syphilis Too (Il)'
Group Show at David Lewis Gallery in East Hampton.
July 1-Aug 2, 2023
Curated by Adam Cohen and Anton Kern
Syphilis Too (I1) builds upon their earlier exhibition, Syphilis, which was held at Rental Gallery in 2018. The exhibition continues to explore the idea of syphilis -a disease already famous in art history for its associations with eroticism, creativity, madness, decadence, and decay-as a metaphor for the poisonous contagion of contemporary media and communication.

Featured artists: Sarah Aibel, Darren Bader, Darren Bader & Jesse Willenbring, Pablo Barba, Georg Baselitz, Felix Beaudry, Gina Beavers, Beryl Cook, Cecily Brown, Alex Da Corte, Tomas Esson, Llyn Foulkes, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Sheree Hovsepian, Bryan Jabs, Roxanne Jackson, Marcus Jahmal, Jeffrey Joyal, Charlotte Kingsnorth, Hein Koh, Austin Lee, Adam McEwen, Howie Michels, Joel Mesler, Pablo Picasso, Lara Schnitger and Kan Seidel

Who Are We
A solo exhibition of paintings and sculptures from artist Kan Seidel (b. 1987). Opening on November 26, 2022, Kan Seidel: Brother Brother--as curated by Alexander DiJulio--will be the artist’s first solo exhibition and was produced during a residency in East Hampton.
New York-based painter Kan Seidel (b. 1987, Omaha, NE) moved to New York City in 2014, working as a writer until the recent death of a brother sparked an unexpected new body of work. The Fireplace Project will exhibit a new series of Seidel’s oil paintings and clay sculptures which decode this great loss through a playful deconstruction of the human figure and family dynamics with a humorous edge.
